How to download Bilibili videos in 1080P+ and 4K

Bilibili gates its best quality behind a logged-in account, which is why most Bilibili downloads come out at 480p even when the video clearly offers 4K.

The 1080P+ login requirement

Anonymous visitors get low-resolution streams. 1080P+, 4K and HDR require a logged-in account, and some of them require a Bilibili Premium (大会员) membership. A downloader cannot invent access you do not have — it has to reuse your login.

Download steps

1. Copy the video URL (a BV… link).
2. Select your logged-in browser under Login Cookies.
3. Click Detect. Available qualities are listed; the high ones only show up if your account can actually play them.
4. Pick a quality and download.

Multi-part videos (分P)

Many Bilibili uploads are collections with dozens of parts. Paste the collection URL and every part is listed, each selectable on its own. If you paste a link that points at a specific part (?p=17), that part is preselected — you can still switch to the whole collection.

Danmaku and subtitles

Danmaku (the scrolling comments) is a separate data file, not burned into the video. You can save it alongside the download for playback in a player that supports it. Subtitles, where the uploader provided them, save as a separate file too.
